======================================

IJA’s New Year’s Party usually takes place on the First Saturday of the New Year. It has been at a few venues but recently we have been having it at the Dick Eardley Senior Center.

The party is open to all members (Join here) and is a pot luck.

We always have a Mochitsuki (traditional mochi (rice cake) pounding) demo which is a fun immersive experience for kids and adults.

We have had various performers in the past including Shishimai performances, Shamisen performances and Taiko performances.

The Japanese Kid’s club provides the opportunity to enjoy cultural arts and crafts.

We also play Bozu Mekuri, a game played with traditional cards, it’s simple to learn but hard to win!
