The Idaho Japanese Association (IJA) was founded on January 1, 2008 in Boise, Idaho by five volunteers. By March of 2009, it was officially registered as a non profit corporation (registered name: Idaho Japanese Association, Inc.) with the State of Idaho and has now grown to over 1000 members. Each year, the IJA participates in many cultural events throughout Boise to share our Japanese heritage and tradition. Our main event is “Idaho Japan Day” along with other supplemental gatherings such as: IJA Movie Night, Potluck Picnic, and Japanese New Year Party.
There’s a growing interest about Japan and many people are looking for the opportunity to learn more. We are working hard to create fun events to experience Japan for our wonderful Treasure Valley community.
Mission Statement:
- To improve communication among Japanese people in Idaho and promote communication among local people who are interested in Japanese culture.
- To educate people in Idaho about Japanese culture.
Membership:
Membership is free. We currently have about 1000 people on our e-mail list. Our registration is open to all nationalities, so if you are interested in Japan, please register from here.
