After canceling all of our in person events this year due to the pandemic, the Idaho Japanese Association is excited to bring you our first virtual event. A free Rakugo performance featuring rakugo master, Yanagiya Tozaburo. Master Yanagiya’s plan to start on his dream of a 50 state tour this year was also side lined by the pandemic so he has decided to make the best of the situation by starting a 50 state virtual tour with the help of B-Bridge International. And we are excited to help bring you the Idaho virtual stop.
Call for Entries: The Idaho Japanese Association is looking for a new T-shirt design! The winning design will be used for our new T-shirt debuting at Japan Day 2020 (September 7th) and for the posters advertising the event beforehand. The contest is open to anyone who wants to share their artistic creativity.
Idaho Japanese Association was at the Hyde Park Street Fair on September 14th (Sat) and 15th (Sun) to celebrate Japanese culture in Boise. IJA participated Boise 150th Sesqui-Party with Global Lounge. We enjoyed variety of performance from all over the world including Japanese koto and Kamishibai (Japanese picture story telling). We also celebrated Tanabata star festival by hanging our wishes to the bamboo tree.
IJA joined with Global Lounge to host Origami and Calligraphy workshop at 2012 Hyde Park Street Fair on September 15th. Visit official Hyde Park Street Fair page for more information.
IJA has participated in Flashlight Vigil held on Sunday March 11 2012 to honor nearly 20,000 individuals who lost their lives during or immediately after the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011.
IJA has participated in Ohio University’s Japanese exchange students “I Love You Japan” project. This project is to show our support to all the people recovering from 2011 March Earthquake in Japan.
