Idaho Japanese Association hosted social hour before “Like Father, Like Son” Movie event. This movie took the Jury Prize at Cannes on Sunday, the first Japanese win in the category since 1987, Best of 2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival. During Social hour, Japanese books and DVDs were sold.
Idaho Japanese Association was at the Hyde Park Street Fair on September 14th (Sat) and 15th (Sun) to celebrate Japanese culture in Boise. IJA participated Boise 150th Sesqui-Party with Global Lounge. We enjoyed variety of performance from all over the world including Japanese koto and Kamishibai (Japanese picture story telling). We also celebrated Tanabata star festival by hanging our wishes to the bamboo tree.
Idaho Japanese Association brought tea ceremony experience to BAM’s Family Story Night. It was a success with approximately 60 visitors to the Museum. Through stories, calligraphy and tea ceremony demonstrations, families were able to interact with the exhibitions Eastern Traditions / Western Expressions and White Elephants.

IJA has participated in Flashlight Vigil held on Sunday March 11 2012 to honor nearly 20,000 individuals who lost their lives during or immediately after the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011.
IJA has participated in Ohio University’s Japanese exchange students “I Love You Japan” project. This project is to show our support to all the people recovering from 2011 March Earthquake in Japan.
